Charitable Funding for Emergency Veterinary Care
The Emergency Animal Relief (TEAR) Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps pet families in Southeastern Michigan pay for emergency care. Between the TEAR Foundation and the TEAR Cancer Fund, which provides assistance for cancer and oncology patients, Oakland Veterinary Referral Services (OVRS) hopes to ease the burden of emergency veterinary care for Michigan families and good samaritans in and around the area.
The TEAR Foundation and the TEAR Cancer Fund were created to assist clients and cases that need help paying for emergency care and cancer care at OVRS. Donations made to the Foundation and the Cancer Fund go toward emergency care funding, research, and education for the community.
With the support of our amazing community, we want to continue to use the TEAR Foundation and the TEAR Cancer Fund to assist in providing top-of-the-line emergency care for injured and sick animals. Whether you need to apply for financial assistance or want to help others in the community, the TEAR Foundation and the TEAR Cancer Fund are here to simplify the financial aspects of emergency veterinary care.

Your Gift Saves Animals Like Tom
Your cat has been missing for the past month, when you suddenly get a call: he has been found near death, drowning in a lake. Your cat was 5 miles from home. The microchip that you thought you would never need has helped you reunite with your best friend. He has been saved thanks to a Good Samaritan and the top-notch care provided by Oakland Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.
The Good Samaritan who brought this cat, Tom, to Oakland Veterinary Referral Services late at night was not expecting the large financial commitment that a case like this requires. Tom’s owners were not expecting this either. This is where The Emergency Animal Relief (TEAR) Foundation came in. Oakland Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care offers 24-hour veterinary services, but many of the associations that would normally be available to assist owners with veterinary costs are not open round-the-clock.
The TEAR Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization started to help ease financial burden for pet owners and Good Samaritans, such as those who found and helped Tom. This foundation relies solely on donations from people like you. Whether you buy a bracelet at the reception desk at your next appointment, add a tile with a personalized message to our wall, or make a direct donation, any amount that you are able to give goes directly to animals that need it.
Thanks to the generosity of those who donate to the Foundation, doctors at OVRS have somewhere to turn when these frustrating and often heartbreaking situations arise. In addition to providing care for owned pets, the TEAR Foundation provides funding for “Good Samaritan” cases to ensure emergency veterinary care is available for every pet.
